The Georgia Symphony Orchestra is set to enchant young audiences with a performance of Camille Saint Saëns’ delightful “Carnival of the Animals” at the Marietta Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 27, 2024. This event is part of the GSO’s family and sensory-friendly concert series, providing a unique experience for children to engage with orchestral music in a relaxed setting.

"The GSO’s family and sensory-friendly concert series is designed to let kids be kids and experience orchestral music without the constraints of a standard performance," states the announcement.

Prior to or following each show, children will have the opportunity to interact with a variety of musical instruments at Miss LaLa’s Instrument Petting Zoo. "Many instruments, like small percussion, are simple enough to tap or pick up and shake. More complex instruments will have attendants to help strum, pluck or bow," as noted in the information.

The 2 p.m. performance is tailored specifically for individuals who are sensory-sensitive, accommodating all ages and abilities. "A quiet room will be available for those who need a break from the instrumental sounds," the organizers assure.

For just $10 plus a $1.10 convenience fee, families can immerse themselves in this musical experience, with tickets available for purchase on the Georgia Symphony Orchestra's website. Additionally, a free guide titled “I’m Going to a Concert” can be downloaded to prepare attendees for the event.

This family-friendly event promises an afternoon of musical fun and engagement for children and their families.
