The 2025 high school football season in Cobb County is set to begin this week, with games scheduled from Wednesday through Saturday. The first game of the season will take place at Kell High School on August 13, as part of the 34th annual Dave Hunter + Corky Kell Classic.
Kell High School will host the opening two games for Georgia high school football this year. The schedule starts at 4:30 p.m. with Prince Avenue Christian playing against Callaway. Later that evening, at 8 p.m., the Kell Longhorns will face South Paulding. The Longhorns, who finished last season with a 7-5 record, return much of their roster and are expected to be strong competitors in Region 6-4A.
Following these games, another notable matchup involving Cobb teams will occur on August 16 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Walton Raiders are set to play against the McEachern Indians, both teams aiming to improve after early exits from last year’s GHSA playoffs. This game is part of the larger Dave Hunter + Corky Kell Classic event.
Additional Cobb County matchups are scheduled for Friday, August 15, including:
– Adairsville at Allatoona
– Campbell at Chapel Hill
– Harrison at Kennesaw Mountain
– Mt. View at Hillgrove
– Lassiter at Midtown
– Archer at North Cobb
– Banneker at Osborne
– Locust Grove at Pebblebrook
– Pope at Cambridge
– South Forsyth at South Cobb
– Sprayberry at Alexander
– Wheeler at North Forsyth
