Marietta, Ga. – The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office has issued a public safety advisory ahead of a winter weather system expected to affect the region over the weekend and into Monday. Sheriff Craig Owens emphasized that the main priority is resident safety as preparations continue in coordination with the National Weather Service and Cobb DOT to monitor road conditions.

In anticipation of hazardous weather, changes have been made to facility operations, including adjustments to inmate visitation procedures. Residents are encouraged to use official resources for real-time updates regarding closures, administrative delays, or other emergency information.

Sheriff Owens urged community members to stay off the roads if possible, keep pets indoors, and check on neighbors during this period. “We are here for you, and we will get through this storm together,” said Sheriff Craig Owens.

The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office provides services such as jail operations, court security, warrant execution, civil process service, mental health transports, forgery/fraud investigations, and fugitive apprehension. Sheriff Craig Owens has led the office since January 1, 2021. The agency employs more than 800 staff members and maintains what it describes as its most diverse command staff in history.
