The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office took part in the 2026 Polar Plunge on February 21, marking its 13th year supporting Special Olympics Georgia. The event was held at Acworth Beach, where Team Plunge Crazy joined others in entering the cold water to raise funds for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

This year’s theme for the sheriff’s office was “Gone Fishing.” As part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the Polar Plunge is a key fundraising event that helps Special Olympics athletes across Georgia. In 2026, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office raised $4,065, which will allow 40 athletes to train and compete in the Summer Games. These funds support year-round sports training and provide resources for participants.

Deputy Cramer completed his 10th Polar Plunge this year. He and K9 Sherlock were recognized as the Top Fundraising K-9 Team after raising $1,500.

“The 2026 Polar Plunge once again highlighted the sheriff’s office’s dedication to service beyond the badge—strengthening community partnerships, championing inclusion, and standing alongside the athletes who inspire us all,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
