Cobb County School District students achieved the highest average SAT scores in the metro Atlanta area, according to recently released data. The district reported an average score of 1116 out of a possible 1600 for 2025, surpassing other local districts such as Atlanta Public Schools, DeKalb County Schools, Fulton County Schools, and Marietta City Schools.
The new results show an improvement from last year’s average of 1105, marking an increase of 11 points. District officials attribute this growth to both student effort and staff support.
Several schools within Cobb County stood out for their high averages. Walton High School led with an average score of 1260, ranking fourth in Georgia. Lassiter High School followed with a score of 1206, placing it twelfth in the state. Other top-performing schools included Wheeler (1191), Pope (1185), Kennesaw Mountain (1150), and Harrison (1138).
Board Chair David Chastain commented on the achievement: “Parents I talk to don’t listen to what we say, they watch what we do. The highest SAT scores in the metro, a record graduation rate, graduates walking across stages straight into high-earning jobs, and scholarships. That’s what we do, year in and year out.”
Cobb’s district-wide SAT performance was well above both the state average of 1038 and the national average of 1029 for 2025.
In section-specific results, Cobb students averaged 572 on evidence-based reading and writing—seven points higher than last year—and scored an average of 545 on math—five points higher than in 2024.
