Cooper Middle School reported 264 Hispanic students enrolled for the 2024-25 school year, a 0.8% decrease from the prior year, reports the Georgia Department of Education.
This year’s data indicates the school’s total enrollment reached 1,019, with Hispanic students comprising 26% of the student population. This group ranked as the second-largest at the school.
The school operates within the Cobb County School District, which is headquartered in Marietta.
Among all 110 schools in the Cobb County district, Osborne High School reported the largest Hispanic student enrollment for 2024-25, totaling 1,809 students.
The National Center for Education Statistics finds that Georgia public school students are approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.
Chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia schools since the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, as noted by the Georgia Department of Education. To address this, the agency launched a statewide campaign featuring an attendance dashboard, a public information initiative, and support for districts with elevated absenteeism rates.
In 2025, state lawmakers revised attendance laws to prohibit expulsion for absenteeism alone. The legislation introduced additional reporting mandates and aligns with programs offering alternative diploma pathways.
Data from 2026 shows that Georgia maintained an average student-to-teacher ratio of about 14:1, better than the national average of 15:1.
