For over 25 years, East Cobb Middle School has held an annual talent show that is a longstanding tradition in the Cobb Schools community. This year’s event featured students from sixth, seventh, and eighth grades who performed a variety of acts they had spent significant time preparing.
The performances included piano pieces, dance routines, singing, and even a yo-yo demonstration. Hope Onyeukwu, a teacher at East Cobb and organizer of the event, said, “My favorite part is seeing the joy all the students have.”
Eighth-grade student Adrienne shared her experience participating in the dance routine: “I feel like I unite with my team when we do it, and it’s all about unity when we dance.”
Students reported that the talent show was not only enjoyable but also helped them connect with classmates through shared interests and fostered new friendships.
ELA teacher Andrew Trowers, who co-hosts the event annually, highlighted its impact on participants: “I hope that they get out of this that no matter what you do, you have to have courage. These kids are so inspiring because the amount of courage they have to get up there at such a young age inspires not only the young but the older people as well.”
The East Cobb Middle School talent show continues to be an anticipated event for both students and staff each year.
