Two top-ranked high school volleyball teams from Georgia, North Cobb High School and Harrison High School, faced off in a closely contested five-set match on October 1, 2025. North Cobb entered the game with a 29-10 record and was ranked fifth in the state’s 6A classification by MaxPreps. Harrison held an eighth-place ranking and a 26-9 record.

The match was hosted by North Cobb and coincided with their Senior Night, which may have contributed to a slow start for the home team. Harrison took advantage early, winning the first set 25-16. North Cobb responded by taking the second set 25-17.

The third and fourth sets were highly competitive. Harrison edged out North Cobb in the third set with a score of 25-23, while North Cobb came back to win the fourth set 25-22, forcing a decisive fifth set. In the final frame, North Cobb built an early lead and secured victory with a 15-10 finish.

North Cobb’s performance was highlighted by senior outside hitter Mia Goldbach and sophomore middle hitter Zoe Oye, who each recorded 17 kills. Senior libero Hannah Nicholson contributed 35 digs, junior setter Ashley Hendershot had 31 assists, and senior middle hitter Isabela Lane made five blocks.

For Harrison, freshman outside hitter Sydney Hardy led with a double-double—20 kills and 14 digs. Senior libero Addison Cooley added 28 digs while junior setter Skye Palmateer tallied 22 assists.

North Cobb coach Stephen Sansing explained the decision to schedule this matchup: “We scheduled this on purpose for the competition,” he said, “against a team that we could possibly meet in the playoffs.”

After the match, Harrison coach Kristina Johnson commented on her team’s effort: “We knew it was going to be tough coming into North Cobb,” she said. “Even though the match didn’t swing our way, I’m proud of the way our girls came in, handled the adversity, and fought, so I’m proud of that.”

Coach Sansing praised both teams’ level of play: “They’re definitely a good team and we feel like we’re a good team,” he said after the match. “To go back and forth like that, this is just like postseason volleyball. That was fun and that’s why we play.”
