Harrison High School hosted a local football rivalry against North Paulding Wolfpack at Cobleigh Stadium on Friday night. The matchup drew significant attention, as both schools are located just over ten miles apart and compete in Georgia’s top high school classification, 6A. Although the teams play in different regions, both returned experienced rosters for the 2025 season.
“This game often sets the tone for what comes next,” said Harrison Principal Dr. Jeff Milton prior to kickoff. “Both schools have this game circled on their calendars!”
Weather conditions were favorable for the event, with cool temperatures and clear skies accommodating a capacity crowd. Harrison entered the contest with a 2-0 record after wins over Kennesaw Mountain and Wheeler, while North Paulding was also undefeated following victories against Parkview and East Paulding.
The Hoyas established an early lead, scoring a touchdown and converting for two points within the first three minutes of play. North Paulding responded with a touchdown to narrow the gap to 8-7, but Harrison added another score late in the first quarter to extend their advantage to 15-7.
Before halftime, Harrison scored again to go up 22-7; North Paulding answered with a field goal before intermission, bringing the score to 22-10.
In the second half, North Paulding’s running game narrowed Harrison’s lead to five points early in the third quarter. A Hoya field goal pushed their lead back to eight at 25-17 entering the final period.
With just over one minute remaining in regulation, North Paulding scored a touchdown that brought them within two points at 25-23. On a crucial two-point conversion attempt that could have tied the game, Harrison’s defense stopped the Wolfpack runner short of the goal line. The home crowd celebrated as Harrison secured its third consecutive win of the season.
Harrison will not play this coming Friday and is scheduled to face Pebblebrook on September 12 in its first region matchup of 2025.
