Families of fourth and fifth graders are invited to an informational event about the transition to middle school, scheduled for February 24 at 6:00 PM in the King Springs Elementary School cafeteria. The evening aims to provide parents and caregivers with information on what to expect as their children move on to Griffin Middle School.
The session will address what middle school is like, anticipated changes, ways families can support students socially, emotionally, and academically, and practical tips for a successful transition.
The panel will be hosted by Dr. Ashley Mize, Principal of King Springs Elementary School (KSE), alongside the King Springs Foundation. Also participating will be Dr. Jennifer Anthony-Young, Principal of Griffin Middle School, as well as teachers, school leaders, and parents who have already experienced this transition process.
Organizers encourage families to submit questions ahead of time using a provided form so that key concerns can be addressed during the discussion.
Dr. Ashley Mize stated: “We know the transition to middle school can bring lots of questions — and we’re here to help! All 4th and 5th-grade families are invited to join us on February 24 at 6:00 PM in the King Springs Elementary Cafeteria for a relaxed, informative evening all about what’s ahead at Griffin Middle School.”
King Springs Elementary School is part of the Cobb County School District and is recognized for its strong academic performance and community involvement through fundraising activities according to its official website. The school also offers after-school programs and gifted education opportunities in addition to working with organizations such as the American Heart Association via initiatives like the Kids Heart Challenge as noted online.
The event is open to all fourth and fifth grade families from KSE. It seeks to prepare both students and parents for upcoming changes while providing a supportive environment during this important educational milestone.
