Mabry Middle School announced on Mar. 26 that it will hold a kickball tournament on April 3 during connections time, with proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association. Students are encouraged to wear suitable outdoor clothing and athletic shoes if participating, and Kona Ice will be available for purchase at $5.

The event aims to engage students in physical activity while supporting a charitable cause. To participate or attend the tournament or purchase Kona Ice, students are required to make a donation. Money will be collected from Monday, March 30 through Thursday, April 2 by each student’s first Connections teacher.

Teams can enter the tournament for $10 per team. Students who are not part of a team may attend the event and buy Kona Ice with a $1 per person donation plus $5 for each Kona Ice treat.

Mabry Middle School promotes social-emotional learning through programs such as Sources of Strength and Second Step in order to foster student leadership and well-being, according to the official website. The school also features seven computer labs along with various laptop and iPad carts to support technology integration according to the official website.

Music is another strong aspect at Mabry Middle School; its music programs have earned superior ratings at Georgia Music Educators’ evaluations as stated on the official website, with nearly 90% of sixth-grade students participating in these programs according to the official website. The school belongs to Cobb County School District as noted on its official site and seeks to enhance student success through a supportive atmosphere as outlined online.

The upcoming kickball tournament is one example of how Mabry Middle School combines extracurricular activities with community service efforts.
