Clarke Douglas Schmidt was born on February 20, 1996, in Acworth, Georgia. His journey from a small town to the major leagues began there. Schmidt attended Allatoona High School in Acworth, where his baseball abilities started to emerge. Although he was not drafted out of high school, he opted to play college baseball at the University of South Carolina.

At South Carolina, Schmidt quickly established himself as the team’s leading pitcher. He guided the Gamecocks through a notable college career, gaining recognition for his pitching skills. Following his successful tenure, Schmidt was selected by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 2017 MLB draft. His advancement was temporarily set back by Tommy John surgery, but he persevered and made his MLB debut in 2020.

Schmidt continued to demonstrate his talent as he progressed through the Yankees’ system. In 2022, he achieved his first major league win and subsequently recorded his first career save. Throughout his professional career, Schmidt has maintained strong ties to his hometown of Acworth, where his journey serves as an inspiration to young athletes.
