McEachern High School’s football team was recognized as Georgia High School Football Daily’s “Team of the Week” after their recent win over Hillgrove. The game, held in Powder Springs, featured two top-10 programs in Georgia’s 6A classification. McEachern secured a 35-14 victory, maintaining an undefeated 8-0 record.
Head Coach Kareem Reid commented on the team’s preparation and performance. “We knew exactly what we wanted to do,” Reid said. “I was really, really pleased with our players. We had the best week of practice we’ve had since I’ve been here, so I expected us to play well, but I was really impressed with how we won. I think we had two penalties the entire game. It was a really clean game for us and that’s what makes me most proud.”
The award, presented by BSN Sports and Siemens, was given to the team at their practice field on Tuesday.
With one regular season game remaining against South Cobb, McEachern is positioned to win the Region 3 championship and secure home-field advantage for the first two rounds of postseason play. If successful, this would mark Coach Reid’s second region title in three seasons.
Coach Reid acknowledged the collective effort behind the recognition: “It’s the culmination of a lot of hard work,” he said. “The players, coaches, and administration have all been super supportive of everything since I took over the program. It means a lot to be recognized, but our ultimate goal is the state championship. This is what we’re working towards every single day.”
Athletic Director Myra Camese also expressed her support for the team: “Proud is an understatement!” she said with a smile. “As Athletic Director, I couldn’t be more thrilled to see our football team recognized as the Team of the Week. This honor reflects their hard work, discipline, and dedication, both on and off the field. Congratulations to our coaches, players, and the entire program for representing our school with excellence!”
