The second annual Olivia Kate’s Path 5K is scheduled for Saturday, February 28. The event was established by Tara and Randy Pugh to honor their daughter, Olivia Pugh, a Harrison High School senior who died in December 2023.

The run supports the Olivia Pugh Strength and Shield Scholarship, which is managed by the Cobb Community Foundation. The scholarship’s name references Psalm 28:7, a verse that held significance for Olivia.

“We had just under 700 participants last year,” said Tara Pugh. “We awarded three scholarships to Harrison seniors last May in the amount of $3,333 each. Three was Olivia’s favorite number! We are hoping to make it even bigger and better this year!”

The race will start at Harrison High School’s track, continue along Due West Road with a turnaround at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church, and finish back at the school. Cobb County Police will be present to assist with traffic management during the event.

Elite Race Timing will provide chip timing for all runners. Medals will be given to top finishers overall as well as in various age groups ranging from under 10 to over 70 years old. Participants who register by February 14 will receive a commemorative race shirt in their chosen size. Teams of five or more runners can receive a discount on registration fees. A virtual option is also available for those outside the area who wish to take part.

Further details and registration information can be found on the event website.
