Police have identified the body of a woman found at an Acworth construction site as that of 40-year-old Amanda Sharpe, leaving her family devastated.
In a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta, Sharpe’s mother, Deborah Moon, described her daughter through tears as someone who would go out of her way to help others. A mother to a 14-year-old son, Sharpe was close to her family, Moon said, adding that her death is “the hardest thing I’ve ever been through in my life.”
“She was a wonderful daughter, she was a great momma,” Moon told FOX 5 Atlanta.
According to the report, Sharpe was found earlier this month by construction workers at a site on Ivey Road. Acworth Police Officer Eric Mistretta told reporters construction workers had found what they thought was a covered-up body and called police to the scene.
Authorities have since charged 27-year-old Jake Schell with offenses including concealing the death of another, tampering with evidence, financial transaction card theft and multiple drug charges, the report said. Family members of the victim insist he is not anyone they know and they are totally in the dark over what may have happened.
Sharpe’s family is now seeking donations to help pay for her funeral and burial and have placed contribution boxes in stores all across Cartersville. Additionally, a benefit yard sale will be held over a three-day period, for which the victim’s friends have already started to donate items, FOX 5 reports.
