State Rep. John Carson, a Republican representing Georgia’s 46th House District since 2011, has recently used his social media platform to address local concerns and share updates with constituents.

On September 1, 2025, Carson extended holiday wishes to the community in a post stating, “Wishing everyone a joyful and relaxing Labor Day! I hope you all enjoy your day with loved ones and take some well-deserved rest.”

The following day, Carson addressed concerns from constituents about gender discrimination at Pope High School. In a post dated September 2, 2025, he wrote: “Numerous constituents have recently expressed concerns about gender discrimination by the girls’ basketball coach at Pope High School. Specifically, girls on the basketball team are only permitted to participate in that one sport at a time, whereas boys can engage in multiple”.

Continuing this discussion on September 3, 2025, Carson shared an article related to a Title IX violation complaint he filed against Pope High School. He stated: “Here’s today’s MDJ article on the Title IX violation complaint that I filed against Pope High School. From the article: This spring, Carson said he heard from numerous constituents regarding a newly implemented rule that prohibited Pope High School female multi-sport athletes”.

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or educational program receiving federal funding. Allegations of differing rules for male and female athletes often prompt investigations into compliance with this statute.

Carson has served as a state representative since first being elected in 2011.
