City of Powder Springs issued the following announcement on May 26.
Rental Assistance is Still Available, Mortgage Assistance Available Soon!
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs has nearly a billion dollars available to distribute in the form of direct payments to landlords and utility providers on behalf of tenants who have fallen behind on payments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. DCA began accepting applications for aid March 8, and the program can provide between 12 and 15 months of unpaid utilities. For more information visit georgiarentalassistance.ga.gov, call 833-827-RENT or email grafinanceservices@dca.ga.gov. DCA will be unveiling a program to provide mortgage assistance using federal funds in the near future — stay tuned for more information from DCA and GMA!
Childcare and Education Supported Through American Rescue Plan

American Rescue Plan Supports Families
American Rescue Plan funds provide families and individuals with increased funding for food and shelter through partnerships with several federal agencies. Funds were provided in establishing the following programs:
- Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund
- Commodity Supplemental Food Program
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
- Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women,
- Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program
- Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting
- Emergency Food and Shelter Program
