The Honorary Commanders Association will accept nominations until Monday, July 12 of community and business leaders for members of its 2022 class.
The association holds a yearly selection from community and business leaders who will team up with military personnel for a yearlong program that requires a significant dedication of time and energy, the Cobb Chamber's website said.
“Created by the Cobb Chamber in 1983, the association has grown over the years to include units of our nation’s Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Georgia National Guard, Coast Guard and National Defense Force. Each program events covers a branch of service and includes a behind-the-scenes tour of local and regional military assets,” the chamber's website said.
Nominations will be accepted until Monday, July 12 which can be submitted online. Self-nominations are allowed, the chamber said.
The Honorary Commanders program aims to provide leaders an opportunity to understand military activities and learn the effects on the economy. Leaders will also be able to learn the different facets of the national defense system.
The Honorary Commanders Association is a collaboration among several armed forces and organizations including Cobb Chamber, Dobbins Air Reserve Base (ARB), General Lucius D. Clay National Guard Center, Georgia National Guard, Coast Guard, National Defense Force, and the Navy and Marine Corps. It is sponsored by Marriott Atlanta Northwest Galleria, Blue Sky Exhibits, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Hawthorne Global Aviation Services.
