Cobb County issued the following announcement on Aug. 11.
Cobb County Chairwoman Lisa Cupid hosted a meeting of dozens of community stakeholders concerning the challenges of development around Dobbins Air Reserve Base. Representatives of the base attended, describing the challenge of maintaining a military installation in a suburban environment.
Military representatives said Dobbins has a $187M economic impact on the local economy, but encroaching development creates increasing questions about long-term success. Cobb officials described the license and zoning process for properties around the base, and the exchange between the county and military officials.
Speakers recommended improvements to the communications process and the group promised to meet at least once a year to address future situations.
