Asian American Hotel Owners Association issued the following announcement on Sept. 16.
AAHOA’s 2021 North Carolina Region Charity Golf Tournament raised $80,000 to benefit twelve local and national charities, including Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, USO of North Carolina, and Jamie Kimble Foundation for Courage. This event was hosted at the Rocky River Golf Club at Concord with appropriate social distancing measures, masks, and other health and safety protocols in place.
“We are fortunate that so many hoteliers and industry partners came out to support such worthy charities that are active in North Carolina communities,” said AAHOA Interim President & CEO Ken Greene. “The generosity on display, even during these challenging times, is inspiring. I am so proud of what our Members and all those who participated are doing to support those in need.”
AAHOA Chair Vinay Patel said, “AAHOA Members in North Carolina did exceptional work in organizing a safe, fun, and, ultimately, successful event. We are grateful that hoteliers traveled from the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas in support of this event. Even as vaccination rates continue to climb and our economic recovery advances, many in our communities need a hand up. That’s why events like this to benefit local charities are so important.”
Additional charities receiving funds from this even include the Hindu Center, the Sandbox, Isabella Santos Foundation, India Association, Samaritans Feet, Dilworth Charities, the Foundation for Girls, BAPS Charities, and Toys for Tots.
AAHOA thanks Akshat Patel, North Carolina Regional Director and all the North Carolina Region Ambassadors for hosting this event. AAHOA is also grateful to Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, North Carolina Speaker Tim Moore, and other elected officials for attending and supporting this event.
