Atlanta Braves left-handed hurler Max Fried earned National League Pitcher of the Month honors to close out the 2021 regular season and cap a fascinating tear at the bump that dated back to the All-Star break.
MLB.com said that Fried was “nearly untouchable down the stretch,” with the ace surrendering just one earned run over his final three starts.
A tilt against the San Diego Padres late last month during that span was Fried’s shutout of the season.
MLB.com said that Fried crafted a solid 1.54 ERA over six starts during the month, which was instrumental in the Braves clinching their fourth consecutive NL East title.
Fried is the first Braves hurler to win the award since Kris Medlen in September 2013, according to MLB.com
