Braves outfielder Joc Pederson continues to build upon his postseason legacy as Atlanta finds itself battling the Los Angeles Dodgers to see who will represent the National League in the World Series.
Pederson homered off Max Scherzer in the team's Game 2 win over the Dodgers for the longest home run of the postseason at 454 feet, according to MLB.com.
He said that the biggest accomplishment was helping the team tie up the game.
“It was pretty exciting, and [it] tied up the game and got the boys back in it,” Pederson said of homer off Scherzer. “I’m just doing everything I can to help the team win.”
Baseball fans have affectionately given Pederson the moniker Joctober, according to MLB.com.
Last year, Pederson was helping the Braves opponent, the Dodgers, win the World Series championship.
Braves manager Brian Snitker said efforts like Pederson's would propel the Braves moving forward.
“That’s what it takes to win these games,” Snitker told MLB.com.
Pederson has also garnered attention for donning a pearl necklace in late September, telling ASAP Sports that it seemed to be a good luck charm.
“I’ve done the black chain and the gold chain and all those different ones and — I think a lot of other players have,” Pederson said. “But I don’t know, kind of caught my eye. I was like, ‘You know, those look good.’ And [I] texted the jeweler about it and got some out. And they kind of went crazy.”
