Gov. Brian Kemp and Herschel Walker are polling at the front of the pack to be the GOP nominee for state governor and U.S. Senator, respectively.

Chief pollster and founder of Trafalgar Group Robert Cahaly told FOX 5 that based on the poll, it appears many are unaware Kemp is not backed by former U.S. President Trump.

"What stood out was there is still a significant amount of people who are not aware that Trump's made an endorsement in the governor's race and that has a tremendous impact. We find among people who do know Trump made an endorsement that Perdue had a lead, but on the whole, Kemp still has about a 10 point lead,” Cahaly said.

Fox 5 reported that the poll asked questions to 1,000 likely GOP voters over two days, with Kemp coming out ahead of former U.S. Senator David Perdue by roughly 10 points at 49.1% of the vote.

"I think there's something for each campaign to like about the poll. I mean, the governor can look at it and say, 'Hey, look, I'm, you know, close to 50.' And Perdue could look at it and say, 'Hey, you know, among the people who know that Trump's made an endorsement I'm doing well and there's a significant amount of people who don't know,'" Cahaly added.

The GOP nominee who will stand for governor in the November general election is expected to go against former Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams, who was also the 2018 Democratic nominee, according to the news station.

Walker, a former football star at the University of Georgia, got to know Donald Trump when he played for his New Jersey Generals franchise in the failed USFL in the ‘80s. He has received Trump's backing and 69.9% support among those polled, according to the news station.

Fox 5 reported that the GOP nominee for senator will go against Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock.
