Atlanta Braves stars Dansby Swanson and Joc Pederson are now Papa John's new "pre-season pizza pros" during the Major League Baseball lockout.
The pizza company jokingly tweeted March 1, sharing an advertisement promoting daily contracts for the MLB players.
“Hey, pro ball players! Too much time on your hands these days? Get out of the dugout and into some dough when you sign-up for an exciting new position at Papa John's (more exciting than right field, at least),” Papa John's wrote in the tweet.
This comes as the current work stoppage marks the fourth in MLB history to cause regular-season games to be canceled.
According to a March 4 report by FOX 5 Atlanta, Commissioner Rob Manfred canceled the first two series for each of the 30 teams, cutting each club’s schedule from 162 games to about 156 at most as owners and players were unable to agree on a contract to replace the collective bargaining agreement that expired Dec. 1, 2021. As a result, a total of 91 games were erased.
Swanson and Pederson reportedly joined the Papa John’s team at a metro Atlanta location, though FOX 5 reported the event was not open to the public.
