Cobb County - GA issued the following announcement on May 12.

Come see what's in store for living your best senior life at the Change the Way You Age Expo, 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, at the Cobb County Civic Center, 548 S. Marietta Pkwy. Cobb Senior Services will have more than 75 vendors offering options for finances, wellness, living arrangements, safety, beauty, and entertainment. Northside Hospital is doing free screenings from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for blood pressure, cancer risk information, BMI, sleep quality assessment, stroke prevention screening, behavioral health services education, and skin cancer screening from 10 a.m. to noon.  Plus, there are two free seminars where you can learn about Medicare and how to avoid scams:

  • 10:30 a.m. - Medicare Overview (Great to hear before you need it!)
  • Noon - Fraud and Forgery
Cobb Senior Services offers the Expo each year, except when it was paused during COVID, and it is always a big draw for seniors, and their children and caregivers. We are here “for the 55-plus community, but we are also here to help children who are helping mom and dad navigate aging,” says Kathy Lathem, Senior Services Strategic Partnerships Manager. “Our main goal is to help people age in place and avoid going to assisted living as long as possible,” Lathem says. Cobb Public Services Director Dr. Jatunn Gibson says the department is paying attention to what seniors are asking for. She says this quickly-growing age group is most in need of home-delivered meals, transportation, care managers, and the camaraderie they find at the senior centers themselves.
