Police in Cobb County are getting serious about teens using pellet guns inappropriately. | Canva
Cobb County police are vowing to charge any teens caught shooting at people with pellet guns, as this disturbing trend continues to pick up steam.
In a recent report by Fox 5 Atlanta, Sgt. Wayne Delk said that while this has become a serious problem for Cobb County Police, it isn't something that has just been happening in Cobb County, reflecting a trend across other agencies.
"If they do that here in Cobb County, they are going to be arrested, they are going to be charged and they are going to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," Delk told Fox 5 Atlanta.
Investigators said that teens are shooting pellet and BB guns from cars, injuring people who happen to be walking by. Moving forward, police said they will be taking these cases seriously, as several people have recently been injured in Cobb County.
“Not only is it dangerous for those perpetuating and getting charges, but a lot of the pellet guns look like real guns. If you’re committing this and someone responds with deadly force, they may think you’re shooting at them," Delk told Fox 5 Atlanta
According to the report, Peachtree police recently took to social media to post pictures of a child with bruises to his face after being injured in one of the random attacks.
Authorities are encouraging anyone with information about any of the pellet gun attacks to contact Cobb County Police.
