The U.S. General Services Administration Announces Increased Per Diem Rates for FY 2023

Yesterday, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) released the per diem rate for fiscal year 2023. The per diem rates establish an allowance for federal employees to cover lodging, meals, and incidental expenses incurred while on official travel. The FY 2023 per diem will increase slightly from $155 to $157, with the lodging rate seeing a $2 increase. The meals and incidental expenses amount remains the same.

AAHOA has engaged with the GSA on the per diem rates for many years, highlighting the pandemic’s effect on the average daily rate on which the per diem is based. This year, AAHOA Chairman Neal Patel penned a letter to the head of the GSA, calling on the agency to raise the per diem rate. We are thankful for the GSA’s continued support of the lodging industry, ensuring federal officials are well equipped to travel in service of the federal government.
