Cobb County police have charged 31-year-old Matthew Carlisle with attacking and sexually assaulting a woman while she was showering at a local L.A. Fitness gym.
In a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta, many female members of the gym expressed shock and disgust at the assault in a place they frequent.
"Really disturbing because a lot of people come into this gym every day to work out. I'd be very, very, very creeped out and afraid," Rissa Green, who works nearby and has used the gym, told FOX 5 Atlanta.
Police reports show the incident took place on Aug. 25, when Carlisle allegedly went into the women's locker room, entered the shower area and attacked the victim, FOX 5 reports.
According to the report, while gym officials said they haven't made any major security changes since the incident took place, a manager added they now make sure everyone who comes in is checked in and workers are committed to doing all they can to keep all visitors safe.
Carlisle is believed to have gained entry into the facility by using a guest pass, FOX 5 reports. He now faces charges of a felony count of peeping tom, disorderly conduct and sexual battery.
