Atlanta United defender Miles Robinson is facing charges in Cobb County after being booked into custody on misdemeanor charges earlier this month.
FOX 5 Atlanta recently reported that a spokesperson for the team told the news organization they had been made aware of Robinson’s arrest.
"We are aware of a recent misdemeanor arrest involving Miles Robinson. We are continuing to gather all information related to the incident and will not have further comment at this time," the Atlanta United spokesperson told FOX 5 Atlanta.
After being selected by Atlanta United in 2017, Robinson was named to the MLS Best XI last year for the second time in his career, made his first MLS All-Star Team and was a league finalist for the Defender of the Year award, FOX 5 reports.
Cobb County jail officials told FOX 5 that Robinson was booked into the jail on Sept. 3. While the formal charges have not been made public, team officials have released a statement indicating that they are aware of the situation and are closely monitoring developments.
The recent arrest comes as the 25-year-old defender has been out for the entire season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in a match against Chicago Fire FC on May 7. Team officials have long indicated that they feel his recovery will need to include surgery at some point.
