A Powder Springs police officer is being hailed as a hero after reviving a man who had stopped breathing and had no pulse.
The Powder Springs Police Department credited Officer Yates, who arrived on the scene and took over emergency medical response; a recent report from FOX 5 Atlanta said.
"Without a doubt, if it was not for the quick actions of the citizens on the trail who immediately began taking care of this stranger, and the endurance of Officer Yates, the Silver Comet would have claimed another life," Powder Springs Police Department said on Facebook. "Thankfully, this man will live to conquer the Silver Comet again another day."
The incident unfolded on Oct. 29, near the Silver Comet Trail, the report said. Yates performed CPR for more 10 minutes on the man who had gone into cardiac arrest, eventually helping him to regain his pulse and wake up as he was being loaded into an ambulance by EMS personnel, who transported him to a nearby hospital.
The man, who before Yates arrived on the scene also received critical assistance from others in the area traveling the trail, is now expected to make a full recovery; the Powder Springs Police Department Facebook post said.
