Texas-based fast-food favorite Whataburger has opened its first location in Metro Atlanta on Town Park Lane NW in Kennesaw.

Operating partner Rydell Johnson said the team is excited to open the state's second Whataburger following the one in Thomasville, a recent FOX 5 Atlanta report said.

"Our team couldn’t be more excited to make history and open Whataburger’s doors to the Atlanta community," Johnson told FOX 5 Atlanta. "For those visiting us for the very first time, we always recommend starting with the #1, our namesake burger, but you can’t go wrong with any decision when it comes to fresh, made-to-order meals from Whataburger."

With the eatery initially opening as just a drive-thru operation, hungry customers will be able to gather in double drive-thru lanes featuring digital menu boards; the FOX 5 report said. Over time, owners plan to open the dining room as well as offer delivery and curbside pickup.

To help handle what owners are hoping will be an overflow crowd at the grand opening, management plans to hire private security guards to help control traffic. Cobb County deputies will also be on-site to help steer vehicles in and out.

In all, the chain plans to open as many as 10 more restaurants across the state over the next year and more than 50 in the next seven years; including locations at 9766 GA-92 in Woodstock, 503 Lakeland Plaza in Cumming, 2925 Buford Drive in Buford, 900 Pavilion Parkway in Monroe, 10106 Alcovy Road in Covington, and 3201 Atlanta Highway in Athens; the report said.
