Chattahoochee Technical College recently welcomed Ford Thigpen as the new chair of its Board of Directors and honored outgoing Board Chair Debbie Underkoffler during a board meeting. The college also commended outgoing board members Mark Haney and Stevan Crew for their years of service.

Thigpen, the Northwest Georgia Regional President of The Piedmont Bank, has a long history of civic engagement in Georgia. His roles have included chairing the Wellstar Cobb Hospital Authority, serving as president of the Rotary Club of Paulding County, and leading the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce. He is also involved with the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce and has chaired both the South Cobb Business Association and the South Cobb Redevelopment Authority.

Underkoffler, president and CEO of North Georgia Staffing, was recognized for her dedication to Chattahoochee Tech. “Debbie’s hard work and dedication over the years has been truly inspiring,” said Chattahoochee Tech President Dr. Ron Newcomb while presenting her with an award of appreciation. North Georgia Staffing is an award-winning human resource consulting firm that has been recognized multiple times by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.

Mark Haney, a retired healthcare executive with over 40 years at Wellstar Health System, received an award for his service on the board. His civic contributions include chairing the Georgia Association of Healthcare Executives and leading both the Paulding and Douglas County Chambers of Commerce.

Stevan Crew, founder and owner of Crew & Associates, was also honored. A U.S. Army veteran, Crew has built a career in insurance and financial services while serving on various community boards such as the Paulding Schools Foundation and KSU Center for Regional History Advisory Board. He was awarded Citizen of the Year by the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce.

“We thank both Mark and Stevan for their unwavering support,” said Dr. Newcomb. “Their tenure on the board through the years was marked by wisdom, dedication, and a deep passion for our mission.”

The Chattahoochee Tech Board of Directors serves as an advisory body composed of members nominated by industry leaders and approved by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). These members advocate within their communities on issues relevant to both Chattahoochee Tech and local workforce development.
