Mount Paran Christian School (MPCS), a private Christian school in Cobb County, has announced Dr. Matthew Kerlin as the new Head of School.

Dr. Kerlin joins MPCS with extensive experience and a commitment to the school's Christ-centered mission. Retired Head of School Dr. David Tilley served as Interim Head from May 2023 to June 2024.

In his first week, Dr. Kerlin engaged with students and parents, participating in various activities such as greeting them in the carpool line and playing on the playground with preschoolers.

Dr. Kerlin previously served for six years as Head of School at SouthLake Christian in Charlotte, N.C., and held roles at Samford University, the University of Alabama, and Belmont University. His career has been marked by a focus on student development and holistic growth.

“MPCS is a beacon of academic excellence and unapologetic Christian mission," said Dr. Kerlin. "The opportunity to lead an institution that seamlessly blends both was simply irresistible.” He aims to ensure financial stability, spiritual vibrancy, and academic distinction for MPCS.

George Ethridge, Chairman of the MPCS Board of Trustees, stated: “Dr. Kerlin is a strategic thinker and team builder who has the vision and foresight to drive MPCS to new heights.”

Founded in 1976, Mount Paran Christian School is fully accredited (SAIS/Cognia) and located near Kennesaw Mountain on a 68-acre campus. The school offers education from preschool through grade 12 within a covenantal-Christian environment focused on academics, arts, athletics, and small class sizes.
