Cobb Schools has announced its latest Athlete of the Week honorees, recognizing outstanding performances by student-athletes in both sports and academics. The current winners are senior swimmers Luke Watkins from Campbell High School and Finnly Jollands from Lassiter High School.

Luke Watkins achieved the state title in the 100-yard breaststroke, marking a high point in his four-year swimming career at Campbell. He consistently placed in top positions at major competitions throughout his high school years, with notable achievements including first and second place finishes at County Championships during his senior year. Watkins also secured third place in the 500 Free during his junior year and first place in the 100 Breast this year at State Finals. Additionally, he is recognized as a two-time Scholastic All-American and a four-time member of the Georgia Swimming All-Star team. Academically, Watkins is part of Campbell's International Baccalaureate program.

His coach, Spencer Tolbert, praised Watkins: "Luke has been a cornerstone of the Campbell Swim and Dive Team since his freshman year... He holds himself to the highest standards and consistently motivates the team to push their limits." Coach Tolbert further emphasized that Watkins' commitment extends beyond athletics: "His commitment to excellence in all areas of his life is evident... Luke’s story is one of incredibly hard work, discipline, and passion."

Meanwhile, Finnly Jollands from Lassiter won multiple state championships including titles in both individual events—the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke—and relay events such as the 200 Medley Relay which set new school and county records. She maintains an impressive GPA while preparing to swim collegiately at the University of Minnesota.

Coach Brittany Hughes commended Jollands for her influence on younger teammates: "Finnly's commitment to the sport and team shows whenever she is around... She encourages others to do their best." Highlighting her longstanding dedication to swimming since childhood alongside academic pursuits within Lassiter’s STEM Academy, Hughes concluded that Jollands is "an outstanding athlete" deserving recognition.

Both athletes have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication throughout their high school careers.
