Vaughan Elementary School has announced several updates and upcoming events for families as of September 8, 2025. The school’s Rocket Blast fundraiser has reached $14,145, allowing all students to participate in a GLOW LUNCH this week. Organizers have set further goals: if donations reach $20,000, the administrative team will spend an entire day on the school roof; the ultimate goal is $30,000. The donation window closes on September 19.

Classroom fundraising competition updates were shared: Ms. Connors and Ms. Deck are tied for ninth place; only $5 separates Ms. Everson and Ms. Fortney in seventh and eighth places; Ms. Estes leads fifth grade by $30; and Ms. Pritz is just $5 away from third place.

A Chick-fil-A Spirit Day will take place on September 9 at Brookstone Chick-fil-A from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., with proceeds supporting Vaughan Elementary School.

The PASS meeting about attendance will be held on September 10 from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m., hosted by school social worker Alayia Shotwell in Room 1222.

Patriot Day will be observed on September 11 with students encouraged to wear red, white, and blue while participating in Walk to School Day.

Vaughan’s Open House is scheduled for September 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., offering families an opportunity to visit the school.

KONA Ice will be available for purchase after lunch on September 12.

Several student achievements were highlighted:
– PBIS Raffle Winners received recognition for responsibility.
– Students who completed summer reading celebrated with ice cream.
– The “Terrific Kids” spotlight focused on accountability.
– Ms. Spooner’s class earned extra recess for positive behavior in the cafeteria.
– Five students from Ms. Chow’s class used PBIS points for lunch with administration.
– A Vaughan Spirit Wear Winner was named.
– Bus Behavior Superstars were recognized for respect, responsibility, and safety.

The PTSA reminded families that Yearbook Cover Contest entries are due by September 12 and provided information about online donation payment options—families should note that tips collected during Rocket Blast donations go toward program fees rather than being donated to Vaughan Elementary School.

Students in grades one through five are invited to participate in the Science Fair with projects due November 7; parents can attend informational meetings throughout October by signing up at https://forms.office.com/r/kXtEV5iRDM.

Other important dates include:
– Rocket Blast donation collection through September 19
– Patriot Day/Walk to School Day on September 11
– PTSA General Meeting and Open House on September 11
– Terrific Kids Compassion recognition on September 18
– Rocket Blast Field Day and STEM Challenge deadline on September 19
– Fall Break from September 22–26
– Fall Bookfair from September 29–October 3
– Goodies with Grownups event split between September 30 (last names A-L) and October 1 (M-Z)

The school encourages families to check its feeder schools page at https://www.cobbk12.org/vaughan/page/12081/feeder-schools for more information about related activities.

“Thanks to your incredible support, as of 5:30 today, we have raised $14,145! Which means every student will get to participate in the GLOW LUNCH this week! But wait… there’s more! If we reach $20,000 – our fearless admin team will “Raise the Roof” — literally — by spending the entire day on the school roof! And our ultimate mission? $30,000! Let’s keep the momentum going and blast past our goal! The final day to give is September 19 — don’t miss your chance to be part of the fun and make a difference!” according to organizers.
