Vaughan Elementary School has announced several updates and upcoming events for families as part of its recent newsletter. The school reported that the Rocket Blast fundraiser met its goal before the Field Day activities began, highlighting strong community participation.
A free Family Movie Night is scheduled for October 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on the primary field, featuring a showing of “Lilo & Stitch.” The event is sponsored by the PTSA, and families are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic snacks.
The school is inviting feedback through the Cognia Student, Parent, and Staff Surveys, which are open from September 10 to October 17. These surveys collect data on student learning and wellness and will be used by Cognia Accrediting Agency, Cobb County School District, and local schools to improve educational environments.
Families are also asked to complete a Family Needs Assessment survey. This information helps the counseling department identify resources and plan programs to support student success and well-being.
Community members can nominate staff for “Staff Member of the Month” at https://forms.office.com/r/hx5HxunKvc. Every nomination enters a raffle where nominees may have their names displayed on the school marquee or win a special prize.
During Fall Break, students can participate in optional instructional activities provided by Cobb County School District’s Fall Learning Collection. These ungraded activities cover subjects such as math and English language arts across all elementary grades.
Bruster’s Spirit Day will take place during fall break from 2–8 PM, encouraging students and families to visit Bruster’s while wearing school colors.
The “Goodies with Grownups” breakfast event will be held on September 30 for families with last names A–L and on October 1 for those with last names M–Z. Both sessions run from 7:00 am to 7:45 am in the school cafeteria.
From September 29 through October 3, Vaughan will host Literati’s ‘Tumble into Tales’ Bookfair daily from 7:15 am to 3:15 pm, with extended hours during Movie Night. Volunteers are welcome, and an online bookfair option is available for early shopping; proceeds benefit the school library.
A Strong4Life Challenge Pep Rally is set for October 2 in the gym. The assembly aims to promote healthy habits among students through music and movement led by the Challenge Team.
The newsletter also recognized students who won PBIS raffles for demonstrating responsibility as well as those showing exemplary bus behavior. Compassion was highlighted as the Terrific Kids Word of the Month.
Other notable dates include CogAT testing for first and third graders (October 6-10), Public Safety Appreciation Week (October 7-11), Digital Learning Day (October 13), Early Release/Conference Week (October 14-17), National School Lunch Week (October 13-17), National School Bus Safety Week (October 21-25), IOWA testing for third and fifth graders (October 21-29), PTSA Monster Mash (October 24), Terrific Kids recognition (October 23), and Wacky Hair Day fundraiser (October 31).
