Vaughan Elementary School has shared several updates and announcements for its community as of November 10, 2025.

Second grade students performed at the PTSA meeting on November 6. Their teacher, Mr. Drawdy, was recognized for leading the performance.

The school is holding its annual Happy Holidays Card Contest. Students can submit hand-drawn artwork using official forms available outside the office. The phrase “Happy Holidays from Vaughan Rockets” must be included in each design. Submissions are due by Thursday, November 13, and one winner will have their art featured on Vaughan’s holiday card sent across the district.

Thanksgiving lunches are scheduled over three days to allow families to celebrate with their children according to grade level: fourth and first grades on November 18; fifth and third grades on November 19; kindergarten and second grades on November 20. Families are encouraged to RSVP for these events online.

Recent student celebrations include recognition of PBIS Raffle Winners for demonstrating accountability, a Spirit Wear Winner sponsored by PTSA with a chicken biscuit coupon prize, and PBIS bus winners who exhibited positive behavior during transportation.

Staff members Sara Bruce (fourth grade teacher) and Christina Hancock (integrated teacher) were named October’s Staff Members of the Month. This recognition program is sponsored by Chick-fil-A Brookstone.

The Strong4Life initiative this month focuses on emotional health, encouraging students to express their feelings as part of building resilience and healthy relationships.

In STEM education news, fifth graders are studying genetic traits; fourth graders are modeling ecosystems and the water cycle; third graders are learning about prehistoric life through fossils; second graders are engineering mini golf courses related to force and motion; first graders explore light and sound communication systems; kindergarteners tend to the school garden while learning about seeds in winter conditions.
