Vaughan Elementary School released its latest family news and notes on March 15, highlighting important reminders for morning arrival procedures, upcoming events, and recent student achievements.

The update is part of the school’s ongoing efforts to keep families informed about key dates and reinforce a supportive learning environment. The school emphasized that structured daily schedules are in place to encourage punctuality among students, with doors opening at 7:15 a.m., an announcements bell at 7:45 a.m., and the tardy bell ringing at 7:50 a.m. Teachers take attendance promptly after the tardy bell, reinforcing the importance of arriving on time according to the official website.

Families who drive their children to school were reminded to follow designated traffic patterns for drop-off and parking. The school noted that there is no parking allowed at the end of the building during morning arrival for grades three through five. Parents have two options for car rider drop-off: either along the front sidewalk or by parking in the back lot (ASP/cafe) and walking their child around to the front entrance.

The newsletter also celebrated several student accomplishments. Students who completed February’s STEM Family Challenge were congratulated, while March’s challenge invites families to design a ‘Star Catcher’ device or model with submissions due by March 24. Vaughan’s Science Olympiad team was recognized for its hard work preparing for regional competition events testing science knowledge, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.

Other highlights included celebrations of students’ birthdays over recent weeks, recognition of PBIS Raffle Winners demonstrating positive behavior (SOAR-ing), announcement of a Spirit Wear Winner courtesy of PTSA support, and acknowledgment of Melonie as this month’s PBIS Bus Behavior Superstar.

Located at 5950 Nichols Road in Powder Springs, Georgia according to the official website, Vaughan Elementary continues preparations for next year by asking parents whose children will not return in fall 2026-27 (except rising sixth graders) to complete non-returning student forms. An optional input form is also available from March 15-29 for families wishing to provide information relevant to class placement decisions.

Upcoming events include PTSA Spring Fling on March 20 from 6-8 p.m., Chick-fil-A Spirit Day on March 24 coinciding with STEM Challenge submissions deadline, and Walk-to-School Day scheduled for March 27 if weather permits.
