Vaughan Elementary School announced on March 10 several updates, including recognition of Board Member Brad Wheeler during School Board Appreciation Week, student achievements, and details about upcoming school events.

The announcement highlights the importance of community involvement in supporting students and staff. Vaughan Elementary School emphasizes student learning by implementing structured daily schedules to encourage punctuality and timely dismissal, according to the official website.

Brad Wheeler was thanked for his ongoing support and recent visit to Vaughan Elementary on March 5, where he read to a kindergarten class as part of Read Across America. The book he read was donated to the school library. Wheeler also served as a judge for the Science Fair. “We truly appreciate his involvement and dedication to our students and school community. Thank you, Mr. Wheeler!” the statement said.

The Cobb Chamber of Commerce was also recognized for celebrating Teachers of the Year at each school. Melanie Kagan, CEO of Center for Family Resources, visited Vaughan Elementary and provided special treats for Ms. Megan Peterson in honor of her recognition.

Several upcoming events were announced: Spring Pictures will be taken on March 13; PBIS Spring Experience Day is scheduled for April 3; PTSA Spring Fling will take place on March 20 from 6–8 PM with food trucks, games, inflatables, and a DJ dance party; Chick-fil-A Spirit Day is set for March 24; Walk to School Day is planned for March 27 if weather permits. Presale tickets for Spring Fling are available until March 13 at vaughanptsa.org/spring-fling-2026.

Student celebrations included recognition of PBIS Raffle Winners who demonstrated positive behavior and Melonie as the PBIS Bus Winner for showing respect, responsibility, and safety while riding the bus. The Kid’s Heart Challenge raised $7,322.35 through community generosity.

The school continues its focus on healthy habits through Strong4Life initiatives encouraging students to make smart food choices each day. The administration encourages families to stay engaged with upcoming activities that promote academic excellence and community spirit.
