Cobb County School District students achieved the highest average SAT scores in the metro Atlanta area, according to recently released data. The district’s average score for 2025 was 1116 out of a possible 1600, surpassing other local districts including Atlanta Public Schools, DeKalb County Schools, Fulton County Schools, and Marietta City Schools.
The latest results show an increase from the previous year, with Cobb’s average rising by 11 points from 1105 in 2024. District officials attribute this improvement to student effort and support from staff.
Several schools within Cobb stood out for their high performance. Walton High School recorded an average score of 1260, ranking fourth in Georgia. Lassiter High School followed with an average of 1206, placing twelfth statewide. Other notable schools included Wheeler (1191), Pope (1185), Kennesaw Mountain (1150), and Harrison (1138).
Board Chair David Chastain commented on the achievement: “Parents I talk to don’t listen to what we say, they watch what we do. The highest SAT scores in the metro, a record graduation rate, graduates walking across stages straight into high-earning jobs, and scholarships. That’s what we do, year in and year out.”
Cobb’s district-wide scores also exceeded both state and national averages for 2025. The state average was reported at 1038 while the national average was 1029.
For specific sections of the test, Cobb students averaged 572 out of 800 on evidence-based reading and writing—seven points higher than last year—and scored an average of 545 out of 800 on math—a five-point increase over last year.
