Cobb Schools have reported the highest average ACT scores among Metro Atlanta districts for 2025, with students achieving an average score of 23.7 out of a possible 36. This surpasses both the Georgia state average of 21.4 and the national average of 19.4.
The district’s new ACT average marks an increase from previous years, rising from 22.8 in 2024 and 22.7 in 2023. According to district data, Cobb continues to outperform neighboring districts such as Gwinnett, DeKalb, Marietta City, and Fulton County.
David Chastain, Board Chair for Cobb Schools, commented on the results: “Every time I hear about another student success story, it reminds me why Cobb is such a special place. Strong results like these don’t happen by accident—they come from teachers, families, and a community all working together to help our students reach their goals.”
While other districts experienced declines in ACT performance this year, twelve schools within Cobb improved their scores compared to last year.
Wheeler High School achieved an average ACT score of 28.5, ranking second among all high schools in Georgia for this metric. Walton High School was seventh with an average score of 26.8, while Pope High School placed eighteenth at 25.1.
Additionally, eight students in the graduating class of 2025 scored a perfect composite score of 36.0 on the ACT; three each from Walton and Wheeler High Schools and two attending Lassiter and Pope High Schools.
These outcomes are part of broader academic achievements within Cobb Schools that also include leading SAT scores across Metro Atlanta and record graduation rates in 2025.
