Vanderlande Industries Inc., a worldwide materials handling and warehousing company, will build a new facility in Marietta, adding 500 new jobs to the state’s workforce.
The company, a leading manufacturer of airport automation equipment like baggage conveyor belts, will build a new, $60 million North American headquarters at 3054 Chastain Meadows Parkway Northwest, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"We are looking forward to moving into our new North American head office here in Marietta, Georgia," Nick Porter, president of Vanderlande’s Airports & Parcel Solutions, North America, said in a release on Georgia.org. "Vanderlande continues to enjoy our relationship with the local community, educational institutions, and service providers. Our new campus supports our ability to expand our local teams to meet the growth in our business, and to support our North American customers with the innovative, efficient, and effective solutions they need."
The new facility will be 152,612 square feet. The current facility at West Oak Circle, built in 2005, is 60,000 square feet, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The expansion will bring Vanderlande's workforce to 1,250 employees statewide.
Headquartered in the Netherlands, the company has had a plant in Cobb County for more than 23 years, according to areadevelopment.com.
“Vanderlande is a global market leader for value-added logistics automation within the airport, parcel, and warehouse markets,” Ard van der Vorst, company spokesman, said in a tweet. "Proud on the expansion and adding 500 jobs to GA workforce!’’
Georgia.org said the company serves 600 airports, including 14 of the world’s biggest, and its automated systems sort more than 45 million parcels each day.
In a CBS Atlanta report, Gov. Brian Kemp called the move a major plus for Georgia’s economy.
"Georgia’s world-class logistics network continues to set businesses up for success,” Kemp said. “Vanderlande’s commitment to creating hundreds of jobs for hardworking Georgians also speaks to the high-quality workforce pipeline in our state. I look forward to seeing Vanderlande continue to prosper and create jobs in the number one state for business.”
