Though his profile has risen throughout the 2021 Major League Baseball postseason, Atlanta Braves left fielder Eddie Rosario remains grounded.
The 30-year-old Rosario has come a long way since he was a shy teenager growing up in Guayama, Puerto Rico, who saw the game of baseball as a way to have fun, according to MLB.com.
Picked up by Atlanta midway through the season, Rosario strung together breakout performances during the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers – which his Braves won in six games – to earn the round’s MVP award for himself.
But those days of playing under the hot Puerto Rican sun never escaped him. Rather, they were his source of inspiration.
“This was something I've been dreaming for my entire life,” Rosario told MLB.com. “It never stopped because I always had faith in myself. I believe in my ability. It had to happen this way.”
The website reported that Rosario became one of only five players to record 14 hits in a postseason series during the NLCS.
It was one of those hits in Game 6 that helped the Braves clinch the NL pennant for the first time since the Clinton administration.
The Braves struck first blood in the 2021 World Series by taking Game 1 over the Houston Astros 6-2. Rosario went 2-for-5 at the plate, accounting for one of Atlanta’s six runs.
The Astros tied it up in Game 2, but the Braves shut them out 2-0 in Game 3 on Friday to lead the series 2-1.
