Homegrown prospect Michael Harris is quickly turning heads in the Braves' camp with his all-around skill level.
Harris was successful with 27 of 31 stolen-base attempts and earned a Rawlings Minor League Gold Glove Award by the end of his first full season as a pro, a recent release on MLB.com said.
"He's a special talent," Braves hitting instructor Greg Walker said in the release. "I think the scouts did a really good job and [scouting director Dana Brown] did a really good job of pulling the trigger on him pretty high. Nobody else was really on him as a hitter. Everybody else was on him as a pitcher."
Growing up in suburban Atlanta, Harris idolized former Braves star Jason Heyward.
At just 21 years of age, Harris is the Braves' No. 4 overall prospect and ranked No. 89 across the league, the release said. He gained attention at the team's alternate training site during the abbreviated 2020 season, and recognition grew around the league last year as he hit .294 with seven homers and a .798 OPS (On-base Plus Slugging) percentage in 420 plate appearances for High A Rome.
