Mary Louise Kelly '89 is set to be inducted into the Atlanta Press Club Hall of Fame in November.
Kelly is the co-host of NPR’s flagship news program, “All Things Considered,” and has had articles published with the likes of The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and Newsweek.
Kelly’s first job was pounding the streets as a political reporter at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In 1996, she made the leap to broadcasting, joining the team that launched BBC/Public Radio International’s "The World." The following year, Kelly moved to London to work as a producer for CNN and as a senior producer, host, and reporter for the BBC World Service. In 2001, Kelly returned to the United States to join NPR. She is also the author of two novels with a third forthcoming in 2023.
At Lovett, Kelly was the former editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, The Lion-O-Type, and was the graduation speaker for the Class of 2016.
During the ceremony November 10, Kelly will be honored alongside fellow inductees Lorenzo “Lo” Jelks, Jovita Moore, Russ Spencer, Dick Williams, and Rebecca Chase Williams.
