The Cobb Chamber hosted its 83rd Annual Dinner on January 25, celebrating the achievements of 2024. The event, held at the Cobb Galleria Centre and sponsored by Wellstar, attracted over 1,200 attendees, including business leaders, military personnel, and government officials. Chris Dimino of 680 The Fan was the master of ceremonies.
Mike Plant of the Atlanta Braves concluded his term as Chairman by passing leadership to Chris Britton of Brasfield & Gorrie for 2025. Plant highlighted accomplishments such as a record year at The Battery Atlanta with significant tourism growth and job creation through SelectCobb projects. He also noted the expansion of the Chamber's Government Relations department.
Awards were presented during the evening to honor individuals who contributed significantly to Cobb County's community and business landscape. Luci Hogue and Andrew Cox received the Len Gilbert Award for their leadership roles within Chamber initiatives. Hogue was recognized for her work with Cobb Young Professionals, while Cox was acknowledged for launching a new Chief of Staff Roundtable program.
Chris Britton received the Chairman’s Award for his dedication to the Chamber since 2015. Dr. Jackie McMorris was honored with the Mack Henderson Public Service Award for her contributions to improving life in Cobb County.
The Senator Johnny H. Isakson Leadership Award went to Michele Swann for her visionary leadership at the Cobb-Marietta Coliseum & Exhibit Hall Authority since 1995. Candice Saunders received the Dr. Robert A. Lipson Award for her leadership at Wellstar Health System.
Ron Newcomb was named Cobb County Citizen of the Year by the Marietta Daily Journal.
The dinner featured an invocation by Deane Bonner from Cobb County NAACP and entertainment by Mike Jones Entertainment at an after-party hosted by Live! At The Battery Atlanta.
