The Georgia Department of Education has honored several students from Cobb schools as Georgia Scholars due to their notable accomplishments in academics, extracurricular activities, and community service. This acknowledgment comes as part of a statewide recognition in which 145 students received the title, with 14 students hailing from Cobb County schools.
The students from Cobb gaining the distinction are from various local high schools. Among them are Dallin Laubert and Ireolutomide Oke from Allatoona High School; Deesha Patel from Kennesaw Mountain High School; Elizabeth George, Andrea Joya, and Sophia Joya from Lassiter High School; Amelia McCarthy from North Cobb High School; Vishruth Thallam, Rahaf Vaid, Shailen Valvani, Owen Wu, and Edward Yao from Walton High School; and Marissa Loncar and Leanne Vuong from Wheeler High School.
These scholars have not only excelled academically but also displayed leadership skills and active participation in interscholastic activities. Each recognized student will receive a special seal on their diploma and a graduation cord as symbols of their achievements.
State School Superintendent Richard Woods praised the students for their commitment and achievements, stating, "Congratulations to the 145 outstanding students honored as Georgia Scholars this year! This prestigious recognition identifies students who go above and beyond in all aspects of life – both within the school walls and in the community. I wish them great success in their futures and can’t wait to see the impact they make on our state, nation, and world."
The Georgia Scholar program is organized by the Georgia Department of Education, working alongside local school districts to spotlight the accomplishments of high school seniors reaching significant achievements in both school and community arenas.
Best wishes go to all the Georgia Scholars of 2025 for their diligent efforts and dedication.
