Powder Springs mom faces felony charges after 5 kids found unbuckled during high-speed police chase

A Powder Springs mom is facing felony charges including aggravated assault after speeding off in a Dodge Charger during a police traffic stop with five young kids in the backseat, none of them wearing seat belts, a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta said.

Gloris Hairston, 30, allegedly has had her driver’s license suspended six times, and investigators said that it was not valid during the Dec. 20 incident. In the chase that followed, Hairston's speed topped out at 124 mph, according to the Jan. 5 news report. 

Among comments, Coweta County deputies told FOX 5 the children were unhurt and have since been turned over to relatives. In addition, the article said that 25-year-old passenger, Tramaine Denson of Union City, also was taken into custody and now faces weapons and drug charges, as well as fleeing and   action on warrants from Fulton County and LA.

As the chase unfolded on Interstate 85, body camera video captured Hairston striking another SUV, which also led to her pushing an officer into coming traffic when he attempted to pin her in, the article said.

According to the report, authorities said Hairston is the mother of all five of the young children found in the vehicle, In addition, deputies said that a loaded gun and drugs were recovered at the scene once the two suspects were taken into custody.
