A.G. Rhodes, a 120-year-old nonprofit organization, has inaugurated a new $37.5 million skilled nursing and memory care community in Marietta on June 14. The facility, located at 900 Wylie Road, spans 75,000 square feet and is designed to accommodate 72 residents living with dementia. Additionally, the existing building housing 58 residents has undergone renovations.

The new development features private rooms in both buildings and includes a community kitchen/dining room, living room, sunroom, gardens, and a remodeled rehabilitation gym. This setup marks a departure from traditional hospital-like designs prevalent in long-term care nursing communities.

Deke Cateau, CEO of A.G. Rhodes and certified dementia care trainer and educator, remarked on the occasion: “I am beyond excited to see what was just a vision in 2017 become a reality today as we celebrate the opening of this memory care community that is transforming what it means to live well during all stages of life. And I am truly humbled at the support we have received from the community to make this home a ‘home’ for those we care for and have become our family.”

Sharon Mason, president and CEO of Cobb County Chamber of Commerce, expressed her enthusiasm: “The Cobb Chamber is thrilled to continue supporting A.G. Rhodes with the opening of their model senior memory care community in Marietta. A.G. Rhodes serves a critical need, and this facility will help them expand their outstanding support services even further in our community.”

Metro Atlanta is one of the fastest-aging regions in the United States according to the Atlanta Regional Commission. Statistics from the Alzheimer’s Association indicate that one in five women and one in ten men will be diagnosed with dementia during their lifetime.

A.G. Rhodes operates three nursing homes across Cobb, Fulton, and DeKalb counties providing long- and short-term care as well as therapy and rehabilitation services to over 1,100 underinsured or underserved seniors annually.
