Families eagerly gathered at the Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy for the ninth annual Cobb Schools Community Resource Fair, an event designed to connect families of students with disabilities to valuable resources. Dominique Terens, Cobb Schools Supervisor of Special Education Compliance, highlighted the uniqueness of the fair: "We are the only district in the metro area that has this kind of fair, where we invite all of our vendors who have fun things for our students."

For parents like MacKenzie Rideout, the fair is a crucial source of information. "It's nice to see in person all the options that he has," she said. Rideout expressed a wish that she had known about such resources when her son was first diagnosed with autism.

Jacquelline Dosdos also appreciated the event's offerings, noting its positive impact on her family: "I'm just so happy to be here. It's a fun event and very helpful to us." She learned about sensory-friendly environments provided by organizations like the Atlanta Hawks and Six Flags.

The fair featured various vendors offering sports programs, arts activities, therapy sessions, and summer camps. Terens noted that each year brings new opportunities: "Even if you've been to the fair before, there's always something new for you."

Interactive elements engaged students with hands-on activities such as sensory-friendly materials. Terens remarked on vendors' efforts to enhance student engagement each year.

The resource fair represents a significant effort from Cobb Schools staff. Terens reflected on her experience organizing it: "I've been working in special education for more than 25 years... Usually, when I leave here... I've smiled so much that my face will hurt tomorrow."

The success of this event underscores Cobb Schools' dedication to supporting students beyond classroom walls. Dosdos expressed gratitude: "From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all the staff from the public school district."

Parents appreciate ongoing support from Cobb Schools throughout their children's education journey. Rideout praised their assistance: "They could not have been more accommodating." Dosdos echoed similar sentiments about her son's experience with supportive teachers and staff.
